What you'll be doing:
Prepare project plans, direct a team in their implementation, monitor and report progress and spend against agreed budgets and timescales
Meet project reporting requirements such as provision of monthly reports and attendance at weekly reviews
Devise and maintain resource plans and ensure allocation of mechanical engineering resources to meet project demands
Identify recruitment requirements to ensure forecasted demands for mechanical engineering work can be met, and support the mechanical engineering manager in the recruitment of permanent and contract staff
Prepare and implement training and induction plans for new starts, contractors and apprentices working in the mechanical engineering team
Coordinate and conduct performance and development reviews
Understand and provide governance on the adherence of mechanical team members, and associated project teams to departmental and company policies and procedures
Prepare estimates in support of new bids, and support the generation of proposal development and documentation
Coaching & developing the skills of your team members
Working with other disciplines within an integrated team to optimise solutions and minimise impacts from dependencies
Adopting an innovative approach to design and identifying improvements to working practices
Your skills and experiences:
Mechanical engineering background
Experience in managing individual and team performance and supporting the professional development of staff
Able to demonstrate experience leading product development teams through the engineering development lifecycle, from concept through to production, including solving problems using new technologies and innovations for complex engineering systems
Experience of project planning and execution and in creating and understanding estimates
