Principal Engineer - Mechanical

Would you like to be part of a team shaping the development of a new generation of nuclear submarine?

As a Principal Engineer - Mechanical, you will be delivering a new design of Submarine into build. Working on the continuation of the design of mechanical systems, allowing build, test and commissioning of a new submarine platform.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Mechanical will involve:

-Executing, evaluating, delivering and managing engineering and/or cross functional tasks or programmes of work

-Being responsible for the production of mechanical systems diagrams (e.g. air, hydraulics, sea water, cooling water systems) and technical specifications for pumps, compressors etc

-Supporting the transverse teams (safety, ILS and human factors) in producing the documentation that underpins the design

-Liaising with internal and external customers as required, ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated, where appropriate, and agreed

-Undertaking peer reviews or checking/verification tasks as directed and providing realistic programme status, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans

-Providing support to the Certificate of Design activities appropriate to the discipline and articulate and present complex technical argument clearly, logically and simply

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Demonstrable experience in technical report writing

Chartered Engineer or working towards

Degree qualified within a relevant engineering discipline

Desirable:

Mechanical engineering background

Experience of producing schematics/diagrams

You will possess excellent communication skills having the ability to liaise with both internal / external suppliers and customers in a professional manner. You will have good attention to detail and high level of accuracy is required to complete technical reports and documentation.
