Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits


A global leader in the renewable energy sector is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer.

Role of Principal Mechanical Engineer:

Take a lead role in the creation, development and production of innovative product designs as part of the Mechanical Engineering function group. This role requires an experienced and successful lead Mechanical Engineer with strong influencing skills who can always give clear and concise technical direction and demonstrate leading through others.

The ideal candidate will have previously gained an immense wealth of knowledge in all areas of Mechanical Engineering and be able to share this experience to assist in technical project delivery and the development of others within the team.

The candidate will also have excellent technical and communication skills, taking a pivotal role in solving issues and improving and verifying product designs.

Key Accountabilities of Principal Mechanical Engineer:

  • Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent higher-level engineering qualification

  • Extensive experience as a Mechanical Engineer; experience in the automotive , aerospace , power generation or white-goods sectors would be an advantage

  • Expert in the development of mechanical systems and products by mechanics , thermodynamics , hydraulics , heat transfer , and materials engineering

  • Excellent understanding of design risk analysis and mitigation tools such as DFMEA and DRBFM

  • In-depth understanding of design for manufacture and assembly , especially with regards to scale-up and volume production

  • Detailed in-depth knowledge of materials engineering , heat transfer , thermodynamics , mechanics , bolting and design for manufacture.

  • Authority on 3D CAD design , detail drafting & checking , GD&T and product data management

  • Excellent understanding of small batch and series production manufacturing and assembly processes

  • Familiarity with agile project management techniques such as Scrum
