Principal Mechanical Engineer

My client is looking for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead and design large industrial projects and act as the Lead Technical individual. Delivering Mechanical Engineering solutions within heavy industrial equipment, power generation and rotating machinery you broad mechanical knowledge will be utilised as you lead teams through various cutting edge projects.


You will play a lead role within the Mechanical Engineering department and work to provide innovative mechanical engineering support for their machines used within the Manufacturing and Industrial industry. You will also be instrumental in continuous improvement initiatives. You will need a thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering principles concentrating on Product focus including limits and fits, material choice, manufacturing techniques, alignment and modern maintenance techniques. Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering with a keen interest to apply your skills in a varied environment is essential for this exciting and rewarding role.

The role will include:

+ Providing leadership, direction and expertise for the technical aspects of Mechanical Engineering

+ The focal interface within Engineering for Mechanical Engineering technical issues.

+ To work with both the Engineering Manager and Principal Electrical Engineers on a technical level ensuring implications and risks with mechanical design are considered alongside electrical.

+ Deliver verified and validated Mechanical Engineering solutions that comply with standards and directives


Requirements for the Principal Mechanical Engineer:
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Relevant professional experience in Mechanical engineering ideally in a highly regulated industry
* Experience working on industrial sized products ideally power genertion / rotating machinery etc
* Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Project an advantage)
* Awareness of safety legislation, procedures and ISO quality systems.
