Principal Supportability Engineer
Location: Luton
Salary: Competitive
A global aerospace and defence organisation are looking for a Principal Supportability Engineer to support the delivery of Supportability work packages, across a range of projects, in accordance with company processes and contractual requirements.
You will be expected to use your knowledge and expertise to make a substantial individual contribution to programme deliverables, in addition to providing mentoring and coaching to junior members of the team.
Responsibilities - Principal Supportability Engineer
Work alongside internal / external stakeholders to understand user needs and requirements, ensuring supportability plans are fit for purpose with defined routes to customer acceptance.
Draw on own knowledge and expertise to develop technical solutions at all stages of the lifecycle, but with a focus on early intervention to influence product design.
Personally coach and mentor others within the Supportability Engineering group on own area of expertise.
Travel within the UK to meet with our customers, industry partners and in support of cross-site initiatives to promote best practice and continuous improvement.
Skills and Qualifications - Principal Supportability Engineer
A detailed understanding of Supportability Engineering in the defence environment with experience of planning and delivering activities throughout the lifecycle.
Awareness across UK, US and European standards with an ability to extract relevant contract requirements and advise on tailoring the ILS work-package.
A good understanding of a variety of ILS tasks including RMT, LCC modelling and LORA.
Familiarity with a range of common toolsets such as OPUS, Windchill (Relex), Favoweb and SAP.An ability to identify and tailor Supportability requirements to different types of in-service support contracts and be familiar with the requirements of the DLF and DLODs.
Experience of the business winning process, including preparation of supportability task estimates for bids and proposals, identification of risks (and mitigations) and opportunities.
