We are a world-leading manufacturer of Infrared detectors covering a broad range of wavelengths. These devices have widespread uses in industrial and civil applications as well as fulfilling many military requirements. We also work closely with the scientific community to develop technologies in the Astronomy and Space sector.
Purpose of the Job - Principal Test Engineer - Team Leader
Team leadership and being a technical authority and lead decision maker in your team
Delivering the core task of repair and maintenance to agreed timescales and budget minimising the financial impact on the business through reactive production support
Providing a focused approach to asset management
Developing a working partnership with your internal customers, manufacturing and supply chain customers and other stakeholders, geared to product delivery
Planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting on support team activities, integrated with customer schedules
Influencing test equipment design through the development lifecycle ensuring design for support and maintenance are built in
Identifying areas of improvement in all aspect of the role, driving these through to completion
Developing and deliver service level key performance indicators and reporting against them
You will have prior experience supporting production test equipment for high technology products with medium volume output. Prior experience of managing a team is desirable but not essential for the right individual.
Your skills and backgrond - Principal Test Engineer - Team Leader
You will be educated to HND/Degree level in an engineering discipline
Previous team leadership or a desire to develop your career in a team leadership role is required
You must be a team player, customer focused and able to develop strong, trusting relationships
Technical leadership and problem solving skills are required
Experience of debugging and fault finding of complex electronic systems is required
Evidence of good organisation, planning, and cost control in execution of work
Ability to manage priorities in a high pressure environment
Ability to work closely in a team with other engineering and science disciplines
Willing to be flexible, independent and self-sufficient with excellent communication skills
