Role: Principle Engineer

You have the opportunity to work for a world leading consultancy who specialises in research and development for the Aerospace industry. The role is a brand new permanent position and you will have a great responsibility, as you will be leading and managing the Systems Engineering team and be responsible for ensuring the projects are a success.

Experience required - Principle Engineer - Bedford

You will be degree qualified in a technical subject ideally in an engineering discipline. You will need to have good knowledge of different investigation methodologies (FRACAS, 8D) and know how to use them. It is important you have had a strong experience in leading a team in a technical environment and have strong interpersonal skills.

They need someone who is quite hands on as well as some leadership experience. They are open to all Engineering backgrounds but you will need to have a strong understanding of different Engineering pricinples.

Role - Principle Engineer - Bedford

  • Understand the design intent, operating regimes and running characteristics of a wide range of complex plant. For example; large, high power electrical systems and switch gear; rotating machinery such as compressors and pumps; lubrication and cooling systems; hydraulic actuation and positional control systems; structural installations, supporting steelwork and welded structures; etc.
  • Manage the training & development of the Systems Engineering Team and ensure that their competence is commensurate with the role performed.
  • Perform formal Engineering investigations to determine the root cause of failures or sub-optimum performance in equipment. Develop and implement design changes for a permanent fix. A knowledge of FRACAS, 8D or other structured investigation methodologies is essential.
  • Ensure that the system design and operation procedures are safe and meet legislative requirements and applicable engineering standards. This will include the safe management of asbestos and other substances and also cater for the access limitations imposed by a facility of this age and design.
