Role overview

A multinational Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical business are seeking a high calibre Project Director with the experience and knowledge to lead the setup and operation of a new Research and Development facility and to own the IT technology development and deployment within a Chemical / Materials development and manufacturing plant

Responsibilities

- Take full responsibility for the design and development of all equipment covering the R&D lab through to the Chemical Manufacturing processes
- Take ownership of the identification , acquisition and deployment of all necessary IT required to support product development processes
- Oversee the procurement and validation of all equipment required for the set up of the R&D plant
- Lead the IT PMO and the team of Project and Programme Managers overseeing the IT development in support of business goals
- Establish and direct development of policy, procedure and project management methodologies to govern IT initiatives
- Streamline communication between both internal teams ( engineering , production , logistics , I.T etc. ) and external IT vendors

Skills and Experience

- Degree Educated ( or equivalent experience ) in IT / Engineering
- Formal Project Management Training / Experience
- IT development , evaluation and deployment experience
- Well versed in Chemical or Materials industries sectors with experience managing R&D projects
- Biotech / Pharma Industry experience ( R&D / Quality )
- Strong IT expertise in high performing technical businesses
- Track record of success in leading the planning and delivery of highly complex projects with an ability to evidence strong communication skills both internally and externally and an ability to identify and overcome project risk with a solutions based approach
- Demonstrable end to end IT delivery expertise , matching IT solutions to Functional requirements
- Expert in Business and operational leadership
- ability to set and achieve aggressive milestones through the leadership of cross functional teams
