An industry leading design and manufacturer of advanced naval radar and navigation systems are seeking a key member of the Quality Systems team, heavily involved in the day-to-day quality activities of the business. This is a hands-on role providing Product Quality Support, Control and Assurance across the business in all aspects of ISO 9001:2015.

Key Responsibilities

Inbound Goods Verification

  • To inspect inbound goods, as selected, to ensure they conform to specification/drawing.

  • Manage inbound quality control operations and follow-up actions for non-conforming or substandard goods

  • Manage the rationale for goods flagged for inbound inspection

In-Process/Outbound Verification

  • To inspect manufactured products, as selected, to ensure conformity to drawing and/or PICL

  • Product inspection check lists (PICLs) are maintained and accurate, using a paperless IFS/tablet solution

  • Produce product Quality Plans and engage with stakeholder to maximise deployment

Manufacturing Review Board

  • Validate defect Occurrences to create Q-Pulse non-conformance Incidents (or close Occurrence)

  • Manage the daily Material Review Board process, taking ownership of actions and driving resolution

  • Monitoring and measuring of defect root cause, presenting findings quarterly with recommendation for improvement

Asset Management

  • Ensure, by desktop audit, responsible functions are taking ownership to keep their asset maintained in accordance with the Q-Pulse schedule

Design Quality

Support the wider quality team to:

  • Provide value added input to the product design life cycle, by engaging with engineering and programme managers

Quality Management System

Support the wider quality team to:

  • Quality Systems activities; such as framework maintenance, audit, bid support, quality assurance, customer satisfaction, supplier performance, supplier engagement, etc.


  • Proven experience in a Quality Engineering position, with at least 3 years' experience in such a role within defence, aerospace or automotive industries

  • Holds an appropriate recognised quality qualification and a demonstrable track record of achievements in improving quality performance

  • Engineering background with a qualification in electro / mechanical engineering ideally of degree level

  • Ideally qualified ISO auditor ISO 9001:2015

  • Knowledge of ESD protocols, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 is beneficial

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, Marine Equipment Directive (MED) and AQAPs is beneficial

  • Understanding of product quality assurance processes such as APQP, PPAP and FAI
