Release Manager

+ Milton Keynes based role

+ Covid Secure site

+ £280 to £310 per day

+ 2 month initial contract

Job Summary:

  • Forward Plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio

  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality

  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations

  • Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates

  • Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes

  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations

  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews

  • Weekly Release Reporting

  • Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required

  • Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges

  • Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.

Core Job Functions

  • Create and communicate Release Metrics used to identify gaps and trends.

  • Identify risk to Releases and communicate to the Project Managers, Test Managers and other Domain leaders.

  • Help identify and implement new process improvements. Assist in existing process improvements. Follow all processes and procedures.

  • Conduct training for new team members.

  • Build and manage relationships and ensure customer/client satisfaction

Essential Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, engineering, management information systems, or computer science, or related field preferred

  • ISTQB Foundation certification or similar

  • Additional ISTQB specialism (Mobile, Agile or similar) or Intermediate certificate

  • Six or more years of software testing experience

  • Three or more years of leading small teams

  • Two or more years of project management or similar role with degree of independence of action and control

  • Robust release management skillset

  • Willingness to travel

Desirable Experience

  • Project Management exposure - to guide others in Test Team

  • Business Analysis skills - able to teach

  • Structured Requirements Analysis methods - able to teach

  • Work on large scale and/or government projects
