  • Working with the Project Manager and the Architecture and Engineering Teams to create Security Design Documents

  • Act as a security conduit between the Engineering team and the Architecture teams on project security work.

  • Arranging and attending regular review meetings for example the Security Working Group (SWG);

  • Review JSP 604 Rule Set and document the findings & the supporting evidence. Update the JSP604 Rule Set as required as by the Authority.

  • Advise on important security-related technologies and assess the risk associated with proposed changes.

Essential skills, qualifications, and experience

  • Significant experience in providing security engineering input to the installation, configuration, maintenance, administration, and support of Windows server operating systems, especially Windows Server 2012R2 and 2016, including in a virtualised environment.

  • Several years' experience in proving security engineering input to:

    • Design, configuration, and administration of Active Directory, preferably in a secure environment

    • Design, implementation, and administration in some of the following areas: PKI, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, SharePoint, Skype for Business (including unified comms from other vendors), WSUS, SolarWinds, Splunk, SQL, Trend (or similar AV products), proxying and Veeam.

    • VMware's Virtualised Desktop Infrastructure (Horizon) product set.

    • Virtualisation technologies such as VMware ESXi 6.5, vCentre 6.5, vSAN

    • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019 core operating systems.

    • Additional Microsoft based technologies such as Exchange, Skype, SQL, and Group Policy.

    • Microsoft Windows 10, various Linux implementations from thick client to zero client VDI solutions.

  • Experience in providing security engineering input to:

    • Administering and monitoring a virtual server infrastructure.

    • Configuring and administering backup and restore of Windows systems.

    • Patching Windows systems.

    • Configuring peripheral devices.

    • MS Windows client configuration and support including Windows 7 and Windows 10.

    • Delivering against high pressure timelines and in complex organisations.

    • Writing and analysing technical requirements.

    • Conducting product selections against complex requirements, specifically measuring performance, cost, and time.

    • Working as part of a large technical team.

    • Working with PowerShell.

  • Several years' experience working in the following:

    • Public and Private cloud architectures utilising Software Defined Datacentre (SDDC) techniques.

    • Government Grade Cryptography Provisioning and Management

    • Military Information Services such as NATO FAS, UK Base Services and MOD Business management apps.
