We are one of the UK's leading providers of cost effective marine, coastal and land based security and surveillance radar systems and support services; providing solutions for the commercial, defence and security sectors worldwide.

The successful candidate must demonstrate having experience of delivering tender responses/commercial bids, in particular within the public sector, preferably to the UK MOD. Plus a strong track record in managing the creation of bid responses to tight timescales, planning and managing inputs from different stakeholders and third parties developing and improving content, capturing lessons learnt and providing written content that resonates with potential customers and wins opportunities.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan and manage a bid from the outset to closure, being fully engaged with every element

  • Work closely with sales, engineering, programme management, stakeholders and the wider bid team, to agree key deliverables and manage a strategically planned programme through to successful submission

  • Lead and facilitate efficient communication and collaboration to produce the deliverables within agreed timescales

  • Take the lead on the production of the submission

  • Be a competent bid writer able to create, re-write or polish bid content. This includes being able to identify when responses do not meet client requirements and supporting the author to improve ahead of review

  • Challenge existing processes and embrace new ways of working that improve how we deliver successful bids

  • Drive continuous improvement by harvesting model answers for storage, conducting Lessons Learned sessions and influencing bidding behaviours by sharing best practice and coaching colleagues

  • Prepare and review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all services are included in the final price to the customer

  • Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process

KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • Previous professional experience ideally gained within Defence & Aerospace industry (or within a similar international and interdisciplinary environment).

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of bid process

  • Can demonstrate effective bid writing skills

  • Knowledge of UK MoD terms of contracting DEFCONS & DEFFORMS.

  • Excellent knowledge of document management methods.

  • Experience of bidding to and managing contracts in the UK and international defence and security markets.

  • Pragmatic and commercially alert - effective at identifying and assessing risk, mitigations, and risk management.

  • Creative problem solver who is detail oriented.
