Senior Fire Engineer

Would you like to play a key role within a rapidly growing team supporting on maritime programmes, leading the way in terms of best practice?

As a Senior Fire Engineer, you will be sitting within the Control Damage Hazards team, focusing on product safety and safety cases for the current and future submarine programmes , and potentially supporting Naval Ships and the wider maritime business.

This role will enable you to work with international experts within fire safety and explosion engineering and will provide opportunities for career development and progression within an expanding area.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Fire Engineer will involve:

  • Producing fire safety policies

  • Generating Fire Risk Assessment Documentation to support submarine design

  • Producing Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations Assessments (DSEAR) / Hazardous Area Classification (HACs) / Undertaking Explosion Analysis

  • Producing Fire and Explosion Safety Cases

  • Supporting Mechanical and Electrical Design Teams in the development of Fire Safety Systems and providing explosion prevention and mitigation arrangements

  • Attending key Design meetings

  • Supporting the Fire Safety and Explosion Lead

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Fire Engineer:


  • Relevant engineering/science degree plus some relevant experience or significant experience in Fire Safety or Explosion Engineering

  • Knowledge of Fire Risk Assessments/Fire Protection


  • Technical report writing

  • Understanding of DSEAR/HACs/Explosion Analysis

  • Experience of Fire Safety and/or Explosion Safety Cases

  • Knowledge of Fire System Design (active and passive)
