Senior Software Engineer

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £30,000 - £45,000pa

A global aerospace and defence organisation are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to write software to support world class warfare operator training, highly efficient shore based training solutions that make use of computer based training, real platform equipment and high fidelity simulators.

You will be expected to demonstrate software development experience using high level languages from initial analysis to delivery. Experience of Virtualisation / containerisation technologies would be advantageous.

Responsibilities - Senior Software Engineer

  • Software development of solutions.

  • System Test and Integration Activities.

  • Design of technical solutions.

  • As part of the software team, you will be expected to work closely with team members, and support the team and/or project leadership in daily activities.

Experience - Senior Software Engineer

  • Software development lifecycle

  • Using some of the following languages: Ada, C, C#, Java, Scripting Languages.

  • Object-oriented design/development including UML.

Desirable:

  • Experience of virtualization infrastructure and technologies, including containerisation and provisioning automation.

  • Knowledge of Networks, WAN protocols, switch and router configuration.

  • Knowledge of the management of deployed systems, security and account management and automated software deployment.

You will be able to:

  • Operate effectively as part of a larger team, demonstrating excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to support a number of concurrent activities including both new and legacy products.

  • Reliably estimate and plan their own work, understanding budget and schedule constraints, and accurately report progress.

  • Actively support other team members or other teams and are able to provide constructive feedback.

  • Take a proactive approach in looking for improvement opportunities.
