Our UK team plays a key role in bringing world-class tactical data links, satellite communications, encryption, and cyber security solutions to UK and European markets for government, defence, energy, and consumer markets.
As part of our growth plans, we are recruiting an System Design Engineer, working on multiple Data at Rest products with emphasis on Cyber Security and Information Assurance technologies.
In this role, you'll be part of a team developing very high speed encryption products that are critical to the next generation of highly secure storage systems, used to protect critical data for government and defence computers, tablets, and embedded platforms.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will participate in all aspects of challenging development programs including requirements elicitation, architecture, design, implementation, and test of products encompassing hardware, software, FPGA and mechanics.
In this role, you'll be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team:
You'll provide technical support for bid proposals.
You'll take the lead to elicit and refine system requirements and work with the team to ensure appropriate validation of those requirements.
You will work with the team to lead the definition of the system architecture, including make vs buy decisions.
You'll work with the Project Manager to define the project plan and ensure delivery is against the plan
You'll own the technical delivery of the solution from requirements through development and into production. This will involve working closely with the other technical disciplines to ensure coherency and optimum implementation. .
Requirements
Degree 2.1(Hons) or higher in a relevant discipline.
Must have, or be capable of obtaining, UK security clearance.
Demonstrable experience of the systems engineering lifecycle, including. requirements management, system design process (including system and sub-system specification) and product validation and verification.
Good understanding and appreciation of all design disciplines.
Ability to spot areas of concern, investigate and drive to a solution - ask the right questions.
Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.
Ability to demonstrate and apply system-level thinking.
Desirable Experience
Use of DOORS.
Experience of system design languages (e.g. UML, SysML), and techniques (e.g. use case analysis, trade studies).
Experience in producing estimates for bid activities.
Knowledgeable in Design for Security principles.
Knowledge of cryptographic standards and algorithms..
