Senior Systems Engineer (Agile)

Location: Luton

£40,000 - £54,000

A global aerospace and defence organisation are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team within the Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) business area, and take an active role in the development of our Electronic Warfare Operational Support (EWOS) products.

You will be working with EW sensor's and countermeasure systems with mission-specific data, as well as providing comprehensive offline data analysis capabilities. Collectively the product suite allows our EW systems to identify and counter threats to the host aircraft, as well as providing an understanding of detected threat systems to further improve future mission effectiveness.

Responsibility Areas - Senior Systems Engineer (Agile)

  • Understand and interpret user requirements, in order to influence and define the system and sub-system requirements.

  • Work alongside multiple stakeholder groups in an Agile methodology, to iteratively develop and deliver products to meet our customer's needs.

  • Develop your understanding of the EW sensor and countermeasure systems for which the EWOS products needs to seamlessly work with.

  • Assess system design compliance against user and system requirements, alongside key performance parameters

  • Undertake verification and validation activities to fully test performance, usability, and effectiveness of the EWOS products.

  • Develop engineering specifications, reports and presentations for delivery to customers & industry partners.

Skills and Qualifications - Senior Systems Engineer (Agile)

  • Experience of the systems engineering lifecycle stages, processes, and gate reviews, working in a multi-disciplined team.

  • Proficiency in requirements definition, traceability, and evidence-based compliance using DOORS.

  • Understanding of airborne EW detection and countermeasure systems.

  • Self-motivated with an aptitude to problem solving and ability to drive difficult issues to conclusion in support of team goals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience of delivery to a variety of internal and external stakeholders of varying seniorities.

Not essential:

  • Experience of product development using an Agile lifecycle methodology

  • Experience of software coding (C++/C#)

  • Knowledge of military passive and active RF sensor systems, including signal processing and identification, and emitter classification.

  • Experience of developing desktop PC applications/toolsets

  • Experience of working alongside military end-users to provide product support
