Shopfloor Supervisor

You will be working with a global leader in advanced drying technology, delivering innovative solutions and optimum energy efficiency across a wide range of precision-dependent applications.

You will be required to lead a manufacturing shopfloor team to both short term achievement of production targets and to a longer term growth / improvement of practices and skills.

Purpose of the role:

  • Set a workload for the team and work with them to ensure they complete tasks on time, in full

  • Review output and ensure that quality is at a high standard

  • Weekly and monthly planning of output, allowing for current workload, holidays and priorities

  • Identifying your teams training needs, work with the Production Manager to organizing the training and reviewing its success.

  • Work with teams to improve processes (ECR's)

  • Organise and control overtime when needed and ensure that the company gets value for money with overtime

  • Managing holidays to ensure you have the correct number of staff working at any time

  • Manage the performance of your team and ensure attendance (absence and lates) is at an acceptable level

  • Keep your department tidy, walkways and fire exits clear, aiming to be visitor ready at all times

  • Oversee quality inspection of goods coming into and leaving your area

  • Create and communicate short- and medium-term work plans with your team and other department

  • Manage downtime in your area both machine and operator

  • Undertake reasonable flexible working hours to meet deadlines in line with the working time regulations

Person Profile:

  • Proven successful Production management experience

  • The ability to positively communicate with your team, other departments and individuals in a timely and concise manner about objectives, improvements, issues and solutions

  • Team player who will work with others to achieve company goals

  • Hardworking, focused on meeting deadlines and exceeding targets

  • Customer (internal and external) focused attitude

  • The confidence to ensure that discipline is maintained on the shopfloor

  • Ability to work on own initiative

  • Ability to lead, manage and improve a team

  • Ability to solve problems with proactive solutions

  • True leadership ability and experience

  • Experience of a Quality based environment (ISO)

  • Lean manufacturing/Continuous Improvement experience

  • Experience of some relevant skills (e.g. CNC, welding, etc)
