* remote work with some travel to London

Job Description

The role of the solution architect work across the three business aligned portfolio segments, system operator, operational controls & Industry and route & performance. It is the responsibility of a project team to ensure designs are deliverable, but the team must also operate the assurance process in a way that facilitates the passage of the solution through the Route services stages i.e. align deliverables in the Route Services IT Design Board MSP4NR stage gates against the deliverables in the quality gate process.

Essential Job Functions

  • Help coordinate the successful end-to-end business and technical solution for delivery

  • Work with the Trains Portfolio Architect ensure consistency between the business and systems/technical requirements for each application

  • Ensure that non-functional and technical functional requirements are captured and communicated to relevant parties i.e. Suppliers or Route Services IT as appropriate

  • Review and support governance of design documentation (Non-functional, Detail Solution Design, Security)

Ensure that the proposed designs fulfil needs identified in the business requirements and ensure that the documents are assured by the Network Rail Route Services IT Design Board (IT DB)

Mandatory Requirements

  • Identify and manage project and programme risks and dependencies and constraints, both internal and with activities and organisations outside of the project

  • Ensure that all systems impacted are captured and accounted for.

  • Ensure deign deliverables produced by suppliers/third parties provide full end to end coverage of the solution.

  • Ensure that the solution governance are assured in line with Network Rail's Enterprise Architecture, RS IT solution Vision, Route Service technical standards, Network Rail's Safety Standards.

  • Ability to display a high level of analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to assimilate complex information, to facilitate escalation and resolution of issues

  • Excellent technical authoring skills

  • Experience of digital business technologies including (API, Security, Hybrid Cloud, Collaboration, Content Management)

  • Negotiation skills for project delivery governance - trade-off analysis, conflict resolution, inspiring change, risk assessment

A balance of business, information, application and technology architecture proficiency.
