The role:

Has the responsibility for the architecture (including models, decisions, validation, evolution and delivery support) of complex and/or large solutions across the spectrum of business capabilities and services, software and infrastructure components. Focuses on the full solution rather than concerns for specific components (unless these concerns have systemic impact). Solutions can consist of new systems, but can also be a coherent set of changes to an existing system or landscape - as long as it addresses a defined stakeholder goal. Ensures alignment between business, IT delivery and operations, usually taking into account financial aspects like risk, cost and business cases.

Responsibilities
Communicates with business, delivery and operational stakeholders about the end-to-end solution
Identifies, prioritises and addresses concerns related to the solution, including risk and financial aspects (business cases)
Makes or guides architectural decisions
Models the solution's context, structure and financial aspects
Assures that the solution fulfils its present and anticipated end-to-end architectural requirements and financial constraints by analysis, validation, modelling and road mapping
Supports teams delivering and operating the solution
