As a Senior member of the team in one of the world's leading defence, security and aerospace companies, you will play a key part in enabling the development and supply of products across a diverse mix of commercial and military platforms; Head Up and Head Worn Displays, Safety Critical Pilot Control and Flight Control Systems.

We are looking for experienced and talented Systems Team Leaders to join us and supervise teams in the creation of a wide range of state-of-the-art products whilst developing themselves and others to become subject matter experts and senior leaders in the systems engineering community.

Your role will involve; Inspiring, guiding and coaching engineers in development of new and enhanced products. Steering new and improved systems development through implementation whilst making use of best practice systems lifecycle processes alongside techniques such as Learn First and Agile. Providing a role model to others with clear technical and strategic guidance, empowering and nurturing talent in other engineers. Ensuring that our teams reliably and consistently deliver beneficial and outstanding results.

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Proven experience developing and delivering systems in relevant product markets and/or domains, such as control systems, real time displays or other safety related systems, containing multiple technical disciplines such as electronics, mechanics, optics and/or software.

  • Proven experience in requirements management, design analyses, modelling and/or simulation, using tools such as DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB and/or Simulink and design methodologies such as SysML and Model Based Systems Engineering

  • Proven experience in integration, test and verification of newly developed real time and/or safety related systems, with understanding of acceptance, safety assessment and/or flight clearance processes

  • Significant proven ability to connect and maintain effective interpersonal networks internally and across the community, ideally including customer and/or supplier liaison experience for technical aspects, verifying and obtaining agreement that customers are satisfied and getting the most from your team

  • Proven ability to work with minimal guidance, make sound strategic decisions whilst ensuring the team understand, co-operate and support those decisions, take responsibility for interdependent technical work package management, performance of others and associated outcomes

  • Significant proven experience in reliably estimating, planning and managing packages of work, respecting budget and schedule constraints, managing interdependencies, using best practise early warning processes such as earned value and timely sharing of worries or opportunities for improvements

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Scientific/Engineering subject (e.g. Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or Mathematics)
