Toolroom Team Leader
You will be working as a Toolroom Team Leader for a market leading company based in Devizes, Wiltshire. You will be required to manage a small team of Skilled Machinists, including apprentices producing tooling and components used in the production of the company's products.
Ideally you will be a self-motivated, target driven individual with the ability to lead from the front, strong technical knowledge with the ability to problem solve, confident in communicating well at all levels.
The Toolroom supports production and new process introduction across the site, this is supported by two team leaders.
Responsibilities:
Manage the production of Tooling, including assembly
Manage and react to changes in priorities using PCR's to support various business functions including production departments and technical projects.
Providing practical support to project teams to develop and improve production processes as part of the project teams' process.
Attending and contributing within the daily production meetings to ensure the toolroom supports key functions.
Distribute the work fairly ensuring that toolroom operatives have a broad knowledge of the toolroom processes wherever possible.
Identify and assist in the creation of work instructions (CVI's) and procedures for defined processes within your department.
Develop the skills within the toolroom to ensure it can deal with any new or established processes that the toolroom support.
Support the training school on a day-to-day basis to ensure that our apprentices have the opportunities and resources available to them to ensure their continued development to meet the ever-changing needs of the business.
Strive for and encourage continuous improvement within your department.
Manage all necessary day to day HR documentation for your department, ie timesheets, holiday and sickness. Ensure timely and accurate completion, and any issues raised through the appropriate channels.
Carry out structured and audited training for your team.
Requirements:
Completed apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 and BTEC Higher National Certificate as minimum.
Effective knowledge and use of manual and CNC machines including milling, turning, EDM and grinding.
Competent in all Microsoft packages
Working knowledge of ISO9001 and IATF16949
Experience within the automotive industry is an advantage
Experience of managing and leading a team with a focus on toolroom activities.
Completion of NVQ Business Improvement Techniques an advantage.
