Primarily, however, network engineers will work in setting up computer networks, such as Wi-Fi networks, data networks, wide area networks, and global area networks. They are also most often responsible for maintaining them, providing technical support, troubleshooting them, and helping to make improvements to ensure that the network meets the needs of the employer or the client. Network engineers are expected to bring both hardware and software expertise, switching routing, performing installations and physical maintenance of components as well as monitoring and managing network infrastructure and making sure network environment configurations meet the needs of the users.
