An established and highly respected defence engineering organisation is seeking a Commercial Officer to support the development, negotiation and management of bids and customer contracts across complex, regulated programmes.
This is a key role within the Sales & Business Development function, offering exposure to high-value contracts, senior stakeholders and international customers.
The Role - Commercial Officer
You will be responsible for managing the commercial lifecycle from bid generation through to contract acceptance, ensuring robust governance, risk management and compliance with legal, ethical and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and managing bids and commercial contracts in line with company governance
- Supporting and leading negotiations on terms, conditions and contracting arrangements
- Working closely with internal stakeholders across sales, projects, procurement and legal
- Ensuring compliance with UK and international trading regulations
- Supporting customers through proposals, milestones, payment plans and risk management
- Maintaining and updating standard terms, conditions and commercial frameworks
- Contributing to long-term business planning activities
About You - Commercial Officer
- Degree-qualified in Business, Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a commercial, contracts or bid environment
- Strong understanding of contract governance, risk and compliance
- Experience within defence, manufacturing, automotive or highly regulated engineering environments preferred
- Working knowledge of MoD contracting is highly desirable
- Confident communicator, detail-driven and comfortable engaging at all levels
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
