Senior Test Engineer / Test Lead
Corsham/Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite
Up to £600 per day Inside IR35
Active DV clearance - Sole UK National

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer / Test Lead to support a critical, secure technology programme in Corsham.

You will take ownership of the testing strategy and delivery across a Platform as a Service (PaaS) environment, ensuring the quality, reliability, performance and security of platform services and user-facing functionality.

The role will involve a combination of manual and automated testing, alongside developing test plans, managing test coverage, monitoring performance and reporting findings to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and oversee test coverage, ensuring test cases are appropriately prioritised across different testing phases.

• Develop and manage structured testing schedules, including verification and validation activities.

• Define, monitor and report on key testing metrics, identifying trends, risks and areas for improvement.

• Ensure testing is delivered iteratively and incrementally, enabling early identification and resolution of defects.

• Raise and manage engineering tickets to address issues identified during testing.

• Produce monthly testing metrics and management information for service reviews.

• Communicate testing progress, risks and issues to the Platform Management Team and senior stakeholders.

• Work closely with technical teams and customer representatives to ensure testing meets programme requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a Senior Test Engineer or Test Lead position.

• Strong understanding of the end-to-end testing lifecycle and associated metrics.

• Experience developing test strategies, plans and schedules.

• Experience with both manual and automated testing.

• Experience working within virtualised environments.

• Understanding or experience of working with air-gapped systems.

• Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior-level stakeholders.

• Ability to identify, articulate and manage technical risks and issues.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working within an ITIL framework.

• Previous experience in secure or government technology environments.

• Experience managing client relationships and engaging with customer stakeholders.
