Quality Inspector - CMM Programming

📍 Location: Kidderminster (Onsite)

🚀 Company: A world leader in rocket propulsion technology

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Quality Inspector with strong CMM programming expertise to join a world-class defence manufacturing environment. This role is heavily focused on developing, managing and optimising CMM programs to support the inspection of complex, high-precision aerospace components.

You'll play a critical role in ensuring dimensional conformity from first article through to final assembly, working closely with Quality Engineering, Production and Design teams.

What You'll Do

  • Create, develop and maintain CMM programs to support FAIRs, in-process and final inspection activities.
  • Manage CMM probes, software and routines, including debugging programs and preventing collisions.
  • Produce and maintain First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) using Visual FAIR.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T to define robust inspection strategies.
  • Carry out dimensional inspection of precision components using both CMM and manual metrology equipment (micrometers, height gauges, shadowgraph, etc.).
  • Raise NCRs and support root cause and corrective action investigations.
  • Inspect rework and verify corrective actions prior to release.
  • Work with Quality Engineering to develop inspection methods for complex or non-standard parts.
  • Plan and manage your own inspection workload in collaboration with Cell Leaders.
  • Support internal audits and wider quality improvement initiatives.
  • Champion safe working practices and escalate concerns where required.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent practical engineering background.
  • Proven hands-on experience programming CMMs in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience producing FAIRs and dimensional inspection reports.
  • Working knowledge of precision measurement tools and techniques.
  • Experience supporting root-cause analysis (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys).

Desirable

  • HNC (or equivalent) or significant aerospace / defence quality experience.
  • Experience working within an AS/EN9100 quality management system.
  • Internal auditor qualification (AS/EN9100).
  • Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, Lean or Six Sigma tools.

Why Join?

You'll be part of a highly technical, collaborative environment supporting some of the most advanced defence and aerospace products in the world. This is an excellent opportunity for a CMM-focused Quality Inspector to deepen their technical expertise while working on complex, high-integrity components in a long-term, stable industry.
