We are currently recruiting for an experienced Product Development Test Engineer to support the design and execution of Verification & Validation (V&V) activities for complex, integrated products.

This is a technical V&V role within a product development environment and requires experience testing integrated machines incorporating electromechanical hardware, firmware, control systems and software.

Software testing experience alone will not be suitable for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design V&V activities for complex, integrated machines
  • Create test plans and detailed test protocols, including test cases and test methods
  • Support test execution and management of test documentation
  • Record and manage anomalies and produce test reports
  • Develop templates for test documentation and reporting
  • Lead reviews of test protocols with wider engineering teams
  • Maintain clear documentation and traceability throughout the V&V process
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and product development teams
  • Apply initiative and continuous self-learning to develop technical knowledge and solve problems

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience designing V&V activities within a product development environment
  • Experience testing complex, integrated machines/products
  • Experience spanning electromechanical hardware, firmware, control systems and software
  • Strong understanding of test planning, test protocols, test cases and test methods
  • Excellent documentation, planning and reporting skills, particularly where traceability is critical
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with wider engineering teams and lead protocol reviews
  • Experience working within a new product development (NPD) environment
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and continuously develop technical knowledge

Desirable

  • Experience, understanding or interest in physics, biology or fluid mechanics
  • Experience within a highly regulated or technically complex product environment
  • Experience working with medical, laboratory, scientific or other complex instrumentation

The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys problem solving and using initiative to self-learn and navigate new territory in a New Product Development environment, with a good understanding of how hardware, firmware, controls and software work together as a complete system.
