Do you want to work for an integrated and dynamic industrial entity, focused on Aerospace, Defence and Security, at the forefront of technology and launched towards the industry of the future?

As a result of some strategically important and high value opportunities that we expected to be bidding for early in 2022 we are looking for a customer and bidding focussed Contracts Manager. You will provide commercial support to business winning activity (bids, proposals, negotiation, contract acceptance) for significant value and strategically important bids for Export and UK Government customers.

The successful candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment in a commercial business winning and/or contract management capacity in the Aerospace and Defence Sector and have experience working within a fast-paced environment on complex and medium value contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply commercial best practice in support of the development of opportunities and delivery of proposals that balance customer requirements and commercial risk.

  • Advise on all contractual aspects in order to bid programmes in a cost effective manner

  • Develop and apply effective partnering and collaboration strategies and agreements in support of new business opportunities

  • Develop and maintain effective and strong customer relationships both internally and externally

  • Assess risks and propose mitigation strategies relating to contractual terms and conditions

  • Lead commercial negotiations with customers and partners capturing the outcomes in appropriate contracts and agreements

  • Ensure corporate governance is adhered to; in particular ensuring the commercial approval process for bids and agreements is followed.

  • Ensure all business approvals are achieved in line with delegated authority.

  • Develop pricing and wider commercial strategies in support of bids.

Experience Required

  • Sound knowledge of defence related contracting mechanisms and terms and conditions.

  • Experience in commercial /contract management capacity, preferably in the defence or aerospace industry or export environments

  • Proven experience of bidding and negotiating, medium/high value and complex contracts

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to build and maintain positive and successful relationships with colleagues, customers and partners

  • Dynamic and tenacious with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and persuade others.

  • Ability to obtain positive outcomes, with a strong desire to win business and adopt flexible and innovative approaches to winning new business within the governance processes that apply
