Finance Assistant

12 month fixed term contract (maternity cover)

£22,500 - Part-Time 25 hours per week (Monday - Thursday)

Location; Horsham, West Sussex

A highly reputable organisation specialising in the design and manufacture of surveillance products used within the defence industry, are seeking an experienced Finance Assistant on a fixed term contract basis.

The role will support the function of the finance team and report to the Financial Controller.

Key accountabilities:

  • Processing in Sage, including bank reconciliations, fixed assets, prepayments and accruals and other journals, to produce a monthly trial balance.

  • Preparation of monthly reconciliations and schedules to support the trial balance.

  • Co-ordinating with the Accounts Assistant for reconciliation of supplier statements, processing supplier payments and issuing remittance advices.

  • Support the Accounts Assistant with the collation of monthly expenses and credit card transactions.

  • Co-ordinating with Finance / Accounts Assistants to achieve processing and reporting requirements for completion of month-end.

  • Working with the Financial Controller on the preparation of year-end audit files.

  • Co-ordinating with the Finance / Accounts Assistants on the monthly/quarterly reports for VAT and reconciliation of these reports.

  • Assistance with the production of ad-hoc financial information as and when required.

  • Liaising with Accounts Assistant and Purchasing to ensure accurate processing of invoices through MRP system to Sage.

  • Ensure health and safety regulations and guidelines are followed.

  • Ensure that all documentation related to your work is kept accurate and up to date in accordance with BS EN9001.

Experience/skills required:

  • Worked in a similar role

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications in particular Excel

  • Excellent communication both written and verbal

  • Able to work independently as required
