Role Description:

The primary focus of this role is to advise and assure that the proposed design is conformant with vendor best practice, security enforcement, and the Defence Digital architectural patterns and guidance.

Be able to demonstrable experience in the following:

Architecture and development of secure Hardware and Software solutions with successful delivery on complex, large scale programmes utilising emerging technologies where possible.

Strong Infrastructure Engineering background with experience working with an Engineering team to ensure compliance.

Proven demonstrable experience operating both as a Infrastructure Engineer and Infrastructure Architect

Detailed knowledge and understanding of JSP and over-arching HMG policy.

Writing technical requirements and producing detailed solution architectures.

Designing and implementing secure infrastructure solutions. This includes continuous monitoring and making improvements to those solutions.

Consulting and engineering in the development and design of infrastructure best practices and implementation of solid security principles across the project to meet business goals along with customer and regulatory requirements.

Rationalising network designs & their alignment against architectural best practice.

Demonstrable experience in the following:

Hierarchical IP Subnetting;

In-depth understanding of routing protocols, internal and external, OSPF, and BGP.

Advanced knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls product lines and vendor licensing models;

Detailed knowledge of core network technologies and infrastructure:

Cisco Nexus;

Cisco IOS XE;

Leaf and Spine network architecture;

VXLAN Overlay networks;

Dual Cloud Dual Hub DMVPN Solutions;

Layer 3 Multicast / PIM;

Firewall IPS/IDS;

AAA Management Platform e.g. ISE;

TRL Crypto

Detailed understanding of all aspects of QOS (Traffic Shaping / Policing / Scheduling / Congestion Management and Avoidance).
