A market leader manufacturer of optical and photonic products used within telecom, enterprise and data centre networks are seeking a Junior Electronics Engineer to work within the Transmission BU R&D team.
You will join a multi-functional team including optical, mechanical, electronics and test engineers to develop state of the art optical transmitters, receivers, modulators and transceiver modules for high bit rate coherent communication systems.
Responsibilities - Junior Electronics Engineer
You will contribute to the design and verification of electronic assemblies / PCB's for next generation optical transmission systems.
The role will include specification definition, design, simulation, build, integration and verification. You will also support the product transfer to volume manufacturing sites around the world and interface with suppliers and customers as required. In addition, you will support the design of bespoke hardware for PCBA and product test / qualification in order to deliver cost effective product solutions in a timely manner.
Qualifications - Junior Electronics Engineer
Honours degree or equivalent in physics, optics, electronics or equivalent technical discipline
Essential:
Analogue / digital electronics design experience
Switched mode and linear power supply design
PCB layout for low noise applications / EMC compliance
Practical measurement techniques, data correlation and results analysis
Methodical approach to problem solving and fault finding
Organised and effective communications with ability to articulate to others
Mentor Graphics PADs schematic capture and layout software tools
SPICE analogue simulation software
Desirable :
RF design, transmission line design and PCB materials for high frequencies (<40GHz)
FPGA firmware / fabric (Xilinx / Altera)
PCBA functional test fixtures and transfer to CMs
Design for high volume manufacture
Familiarity with the use of software to automate laboratory measurements
