Oracle BI Developer

  • Agile Working (2-3 days on-site)

The business has confirmed that they would like the candidates for this role to demonstrate a willingness to travel to Birmingham. For the first 1 week, the candidate is required to travel on-site to Birmingham 3 days for the week. After the 1 week a review will be taken if it's mutually beneficial and agreeable to attend Birmingham office for a second consecutive week. The business would like the candidate to be willing to travel to Birmingham 3-6 days per month, dependant on business needs. However, the business have confirmed they are happy to accommodate the team travelling to the other locations if required, but ideally would like the candidate to travel to Birmingham. They are happy to reimburse the travel expenses.

Your role will involve understanding data sets and what exists, creating new data sources where they don't exist, problem solving and fixing data that is wrong, and making FND data accessible to teams so that they can deliver data led insight.

This job description covers roles across Data Strategy, Data Production, and Data Integrity in the Data Engineering team.

What I'll be doing - your accountabilities

  • Creation, management, and development of the data sets that are used to make decisions
  • To be an expert on supplying data to, and collecting data from, stores such as systems and databases.
  • To ensure that you build and maintain data
  • To work closely with key stakeholders to understand the tools and data available, tying data back to operational decision making and context as required.
  • To work with other technical experts in Technology and CTIO to address and solve data problems.
  • Help deliver our Data Strategy by building the tools which enable data governance
  • Monitor data builds to ensure they are in line with common data architecture and standards

The skills you need

  • To be a capable developer in Oracle SQL.
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience
  • Proficiency in developing procedures in traditional Oracle RDBMS warehouses or equivalent experience working with cloud technologies.
  • Experience of working with offshore teams and delivering success through virtual teams.
  • Evidenced competence in Oracle SQL, Hadoop, Python, PL/SQL or SparkSQL
  • A passion to invest in new technologies such as Google Cloud, driving new opportunity and capability through development on emerging technology
  • A clear communicator, able to explain complex technical issues to senior management.
  • Ability to self-manage and deal with ambiguity / unknowns while making progress on multiple projects at once.
