Salary: £31,500 - £46,500
A world class global defence organisation which creates cutting edge radar technology and airborne surveillance systems is looking for a PhD Graduate to work alongside highly motivated engineers and scientists to support their radar system design and development from initail product design through to in service support.
You will determine how all the parts of the radar need to operate and interact to produce the required overall behaviours, diving in the the deepest level of detail. You will also have a key part to play in R+D, leading projects in order to develop new concepts and conduct fundamental research int new technologies.
The team structure provides the flexibility for individuals to move to suit their interests, skills or career development goals. While the core activities apply across the whole team there are a great many different subjects to which these apply: for example, Tracking, Modelling, Control, Signal Processing. Each subject has its own specialist team, which provides further opportunities for variety.
Core Activities - PhD Graduate (Systems)
Requirements capture, design documentation, verification and validation.
Algorithm design and test for signal processing, tracking, control & image processing
Performance modelling; building physics-based models to test our designs in silico.
Data analysis; end-to-end system analysis using synthetic and 'real world' data.
Applied research; from product improvements to blue-sky thinking.
Skills, Qualifications - PhD Graduate (Systems)
Minimum 2:1 in a STEM subject; Electrical Engineering, Physics and Mathematics preferred.
PhD students encouraged.
Must be able to obtain SC security check.
Experience in modelling and simulation, particularly Matlab/Simulink, and Machine Learning/Deep Learning/AI an advantage.
Excellent communication skills: verbal and written.
Candidates with Radar domain experience considered for a promoted grade.
Certain roles may include lab work and occasional field support to trials.
