Principal Manufacturing Technician
An international leading Aerospace and Defence organisation have an opportunity for a Principal Manufacturing Technician to join their growing team at Southampton.
As a Principal Manufacturing Technician you will carry out activities such as Production Support; Design for Manufacture; New Product Introduction; Process development and improvement activities.
Processes supported by the team include vacuum brazing, laser welding, precision alignment, adhesive bonding, pressure bonding, mechanical assembly and associated metrology techniques.
Key Responsibilities -
Solve day to day manufacturing problems and resolve production stops in a timely manner.
Monitor performance of manufacturing cells by using production data such as yield, cycle time, touch time and process capability metrics and use that data to target improvement activity.
Identify, plan and implement innovative process improvements using a data based approach to justify changes.
Improve the efficiency of manufacturing cells by utilising lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques.
Ensure work complies with the Quality Management System, and regulatory and legal requirements
Skills and knowledge required-
Good "hands on" engineer with experience of manufacturing mechanical, electronic or electromechanical assemblies (probably from microelectronics, optical packaging, medical, automotive or defence industries)
Lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques, DFMEA, SPC, failure analysis, root cause analysis
Good skills with Microsoft Office, familiar with Minitab or similar statistical analysis and ERP system such as SAP Customer focus
