Product Development Engineer - Photonics

Location: Devon (Relocation assistance available)
Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 + bonus + stock

Product Development Engineer: You will be a knowledgeable engineer with experience of optical and electronic design and verification. You will join a product R&D team and contribute to the development of new components and modules for next generation optical transmission systems. The role will involve input to the design and build of the products, verification of prototype performance against customer specifications and liaising with NPI and manufacturing teams to introduce the product to manufacture. Development of R&D test platforms and measurement automation will also be a requirement. The individual will work closely with other members of the design team, including optical and electronic engineers, test and process development engineers and the product qualification team to deliver cost effective product solutions in a timely manner.

Skills and experience

  • Honours degree or equivalent in physics, optics, electronics or equivalent technical discipline
  • 5 years relevant industrial experience ideally within the Telecommunications, Electronics or Defence area.
  • Optical Communication systems, components and design
  • Analogue and digital design knowledge
  • Practical measurement techniques, data correlation and results analysis
  • Ability to generate specifications and reports to a high standard
  • Familiarity with the use of software to automate laboratory measurements
