Production Technician

Location: Rochester

Salary: £24,000- £30,000 incl shift pay

As a Production Technician - Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for assembling various mechanical parts on a number of our products. Depending on area assigned to this may range from assembling small components to printed circuit boards, all the way to assembling many parts of a main product such as our active Pilots Sticks and Throttles. You will need to be dextrous and able to work with intricate assemblies (small parts) and wire locking mechanisms.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in some of our most exciting areas such as the Active Inceptors department or our Displays department where we assemble our advanced pilot helmets. All of these products are cutting edge.

Despite the main part of this role being fitting you will have the opportunity to learn how to solder and be able to perform simple soldering/wiring tasks which offers an interesting addition to your fitting activities. We train to international standards for which you receive a certificate. Taking on additional skills/competencies also offers you internal development opportunities via our grading system.

Your main responsibilities as a Production Technician - Mechanical Fitter will involve:

+Assembling various mechanical parts on one or more of our high technology products, within the specified target time and to the required level of quality

+Follow the electronic work instructions to complete each task as prescribed, capturing any required data as you go along

+Work in a tidy manner and only use the company tools provided

+Work flexibly and develop as the work content can change (training provided)

Your skills and qualifications as a Production Technician - Mechanical Fitter:

+Mechanical fitting experience, preferably in an environment working on fine assemblies with close tolerances

+Mechanical Engineering qualification or completed apprenticeship or equivalent (such as HNC/ ONC)

+Good understanding of IT systems and Microsoft Packages

+Previous experience in production technician role or complex assembly environment

+Aerospace/Electronics industry experience would be an advantage

+Wire locking ability/ experience would be an advantage
