Would you like to play a part in the development of future engineering solutions and upgrades for in-service Naval Ships? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Naval Engineering Projects Group at our site in Portsmouth.
You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of stakeholders, with a common goal of delivering innovative solutions to optimise the performance of legacy marine systems and support the integration of cutting edge technology, ensuring ships redeploy into service with improved operational capability.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Mechanical Engineer will involve:
Applying marine equipment and system technical requirements to drive the definition of engineering solutions
Developing design concepts and undertaking mechanical assessments of these proposals.
Working alongside other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated system solutions.
Authoring technical reports, system and equipment specifications, and supplier statements of work.
Technical engagement with MOD stakeholders, test facilities, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers as required to satisfy project needs.
Presentation of work to engineering authorities and customer stakeholders.
Your skills and qualifications:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in the design definition of marine systems (or comparable industry)
Familiarity with the systems engineering lifecycle and an ability to apply good systems engineering practices to your work
An awareness of marine (or comparable industry) engineering codes and standards, and their application in the design of systems and specification of equipment
You will be a proactive and self-motivated individual, able to deliver solutions within a multi-discipline engineering team.
You will be a natural problem solver and capable of applying systems-thinking to the development of solutions.
