Senior Supply Chain Manager - Logistics

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria

Would you like to contribute to the manufacture of world class submarines across multiple programmes? If so we have an opportunity for a Senior Supply Chain Manager to join our Logistics business in Barrow.

As Senior Supply Chain Manager you will be responsible for providing key support and assistance in the development of key strategies, policies, procedures that will enhance product quality and customer satisfaction

This role will provide you with the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders to facilitate the customer's requirements. The supply chain function is very large and diverse, there is an opportunity to influence and drive continual improvements within the business.

You will be part of a close knit team which support each other, you will be supported in your development and be part of an evolving Logistics/Material Management department.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Supply Chain Manager will involve:

Responsibility for ensuring the Health & Safety of all your employees and that your area operates in accordance with Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures

Leading by example in providing vision and strategic direction in all areas of responsibility in order to achieve business objectives in line with corporate requirements

Supporting the delivery of the product by ensuring that subordinates have purpose and clarity and are empowered to meet key delivery targets within an acceptable timescale and within budget

Providing support and assistance in the development of key strategies, policies and procedures that will enhance product quality and customer satisfaction (internally and externally)

Actively promote cross functional working in order to augment and achieve key knowledge transfer and promote best working practices across the business

Ensuring that behaviours are conducive to the culture derived by the business harnessing a united and professional image of the business and there is also responsibility to collect, analyse and evaluate performance data and preparing appropriate reports and operational recommendations

Continually reviewing and improving processes using lean tools and techniques

Leading all the operational delivery and continuous improvement activity for inventory that is receipted, stored, maintained and internally dispatched for current and future programmes

Your skills and qualifications:

A high level of relevant Supply Chain/Logistics experience gained within a Manufacturing and/ Engineering business environment

Management experience within a large project based organisation, delivering on time within budget and quality requirements

Experience of leading and developing teams across multiple locations

Change Management, strong diplomacy and influencing skills

Knowledge of best practice standards within a Supply Chain/Logistics environment

Ability to ensure the legal responsibilities relating to the Transport Operating Licence are adhered to would be desirable
